About Lubriport

Lubriport Labs is an independent oil testing laboratory, owned and run by Floyd and Anne Friloux. We are not owned by an oil company or a supplier, and we do not sell lubricants — which means our report says what the sample says.

The lab has provided analytical services since 1982 to marine and shipping operators, industry, government and individuals. We diagnose, inform and consult across every phase of equipment operation and maintenance.

We started this company to give clients control over their costs through honest, accurate reports at a reasonable price. That has not changed.

Several tugs operating here on the Mississippi have had their oil tested every month for over twenty years. By analysing the oil on a routine basis, changes in wear or contamination levels can alert operators to problems in the engine — often early enough for mechanics to carry out repairs before a failure or serious damage occurs.

Savings on those repairs usually exceed the cost of the analysis program.

While industry keeps the lab in business, individuals use the same services. Boat owners periodically send oil samples from engines or fuel tanks to catch a problem that could ruin a weekend — or worse. Lending institutions have oils sampled by surveyors and tested here before a vessel is purchased. Samples from automobiles usually come in to check for contamination or to evaluate wear rates.
